Our story of entrepreneurship
Founded by 4 brothers in 1988 in Nairobi, Kenya, then known Kenafric Shoe Industries manufactured PVC shoes. Innovation, perseverance and dedication paved the way for Kenafric Shoe Industries to be leading in this sector. 10 years later, additional technology was added to offer a variety of shoes such as Gumboots and Flip Flops.
Renamed Kenafric Industries Limited, the company continued to grow adding a confectionery division to its portfolio. Kenafric became the leading manufacturer in both footwear & confectionery sectors across East & Central Africa. Spreading its wings further, in 2010 a state-of-the-art stationery division was commissioned, offering exercise books together with its basket of products.
In 2016, Kenafric Manufacturing Limited was born, housing the Footwear and Stationery divisions. In its humble beginnings, Kenafric employed 20 people. Today, Kenafric Manufacturing Limited employs over 400 people.
Most recently, during critical situations in the country, Kenafric was nimble and able to respond constructively. First, with the ban of plastic bags, the company introduced non-woven reusable bags. Then, with the COVID-19 global pandemic, it started producing disposable masks.
Kenafric Manufacturing Limited continues to be a part of your family’s journey, from your kids first footsteps to the mask-wearing era.
